Metpark UK has won the contract to design and build a new 126-space raised deck car park for Next PLC.
The single storey car park will provide additional parking for staff working at Next’s distribution centre at Redhouse in Doncaster and will be constructed over an existing surface level car park.
For the project, Metpark UK will partner with sister business Raised Floor Solutions, a specialist provider of composite concrete floor systems for car park construction.
Raised Floor Solutions has successfully delivered composite concrete floor systems for raised deck and multi-storey car park projects across the UK, including London Luton Airport, the M&S Bank Arena MSCP at Kings Dock in Liverpool, Paddington Village MSCP in Liverpool and Salt Lane MSCP in Coventry.
Metpark UK and Raised Floor Solutions collaborated on early stage discussions with Next offering a range of creative car park design solutions for the site.
Once appointed, they worked in partnership with Sleater and Watson Structural Engineers, Lonie Lozano Architects and Q+A Planning to secure planning for the preferred raised deck car park solution.
Raised Floor Solutions and Metpark UK will start on site in July (2022) for a 20-week build programme.
Raised Floor Solutions is an approved supplier and installer of Kingspan Multideck, one of Europe’s most frequently specified composite steel car park decks.
Kingspan Multideck MD80XP has been specified for the car park build. With an unpropped span capability of 5.4 metres, Multideck MD80 enables the delivery of clear spans on the ground floor level of the raised deck car park, therefore maximising the number of car park bays achieved within the space.
The composite steel car park deck will be manufactured in XP, a metallic coating that provides up to three times more corrosion protection in outdoor environments than standard galvanisation.
Raised Floor’s concrete floor specialist, Metcon, will install an in situ reinforced concrete floor slab on the composite steel car park decking with an elastomeric topping, providing a waterproof solution that benefits from a 10-year guarantee.
External staircases and LED top deck and soffit lighting will complete the scheme.
